Huge week for Slot and Alonso in the Champions League

Huge week for Slot and Alonso in the Champions League

Jimbo’s got Seb Stafford-Bloor, Pol Ballús & James Horncastle along for the usual European fun and games with MD6 in the Champions League on the horizon.  We begin with the increasingly loud rumblings of discontent in Madrid - as Xabi Alonso’s Real were stunned in a 2-0 defeat by Celta Vigo on Sunday night. How disastrous could it be for the Los Blancos boss if they were to be beaten by Pep’s City on Wednesday night?  In Italy, it was an unhappy return to Naples for Luciano Spalletti as his Juve side were beaten 2-1 by Napoli. Elsewhere, Inter put four past a Como side which had been unbeaten in 11 Serie A games. Next up for Cristian Chivu’s side? Liverpool in an even deeper Mo Salah induced crisis.  There may be no Jules but we’ve got a quick look at how things panned out in Ligue 1 over the weekend, with Lens still top, PSG putting five past Rennes and Marseille falling off the pace after their defeat at Lille. How will Luis Enrique’s men fare in their midweek trip to Bilbao to take on Athletic Club? And over in the Bundesliga, Leipzig’s Yan Diomande stole the show with a hat-trick in their 6-0 demolition of Frankfurt on Saturday. Leeds rock Chelsea as high-flying Villa face leaders Arsenal

Leeds rock Chelsea as high-flying Villa face leaders Arsenal

Jimbo's got Charlie Eccleshare, Dan Kilpatrick and Duncan Alexander for company after a rather ludicrous midweek of action in the Premier League. We begin with events at Elland Road on Wednesday night, where Leeds condemned Chelsea to a 3-1 defeat to well and truly quell any talks of the Blues being serious title challengers. The Athletic's Beren Cross joins us to discuss a great night for Daniel Farke's side - and ponder their chances of dishing out a similar beating to Liverpool on Saturday evening. We've got of the fallout from across Tuesday and Wednesday night including fortress Anfield once again lacking fortification against the Black Cats, Man City's second-half collapse but eventual three points against Fulham - and the marvel of Mikel Merino as Arsenal got the better of Brentford. Amongst all that there's plenty of chatter ahead of the weekend's MD15 fixtures which include Villa v Arsenal, Tottenham v Brentford and Man City v Sunderland. Plus - party etiquette, reunions with exes and fights at the Christmas dinner table. Produced by Charlie Jones and Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1a: Hellos, The Soccer 100 - and the World Cup draw (00.45) • PART 1b: A bonkers midweek of Premier League action (07.30) • PART 2a: Leeds 3-1 Chelsea with Beren Cross (09.15) • PART 2b: Liverpool 1-1 Sunderland (17.05) • PART 3a: Arsenal 2-0 Brentford (24.00) • PART 3b: The rest of Wednesday's action (31.15) • PART 4a: Fulham 4-5 Manchester City (34.00) • PART 4b: Newcastle 2-2 Tottenham (41.30) • PART 4c: MD15's other standout fixtures (49.30) Hosted on Acast. More Real points dropped, Milan top + could PSG really be stopped?

More Real points dropped, Milan top + could PSG really be stopped?

Jimbo’s joined by the Euro crew as James Horncastle, Seb Stafford-Bloor, Pol Ballús and Julien Laurens assemble for our weekly slice of continental action. We begin in La Liga, where Real Madrid continue to falter - held to their third consecutive draw, this time at the hands of Girona. Barca managed to take advantage and reclaim top stop after their 3-1 win over Alaves - but there’s just a point between each of the top four as the title race hots up!  In France, Paul Pogba’s Monaco toppled PSG! But Marseille also managed to drop points! So it’s Lens who go top of the table! For the first time since 2004!  Over in Italy, Milan continued their remarkable record against Serie A’s big boys in their 1-0 win over Lazio. It means they’re top of the league - but only on goal difference after Napoli’s narrow 1-0 win at Roma on Sunday night. Plus, the sorry tale of Fiorentina’s winless campaign.  And in the Bundesliga, Bayern need TWO stoppage time goals to get the better of lowly St Pauli, stretching their lead at the summit to eight points - while Arsenal loanee Fabio Vieira bagged a 94th minute winner of his own to help Hamburg get the better of Stuttgart.  Produced by Lucy Oliva.  RUNNING ORDER:  • PART 1: Moments of the weekend (00.40) • PART 2: La Liga review - Barca go top as Real’s wobble continues (13.35) • PART 3: Ligue 1 review - Lens take advantage as PSG & Marseille falter (26.50) • PART 4: Serie A review - Milan go top as Napoli get back on track (36.00) • PART 5: Bundesliga review - Dortmund climbing and Sandro Wagner sacked (52.05)  Hosted on Acast.
