The TV Shows Pulled From Streaming Platforms For Racist Content
It's been a controversial week in terms of TV shows being removed from streaming platforms, having been deemed racist or inappropriate. UKTV has removed the Fawlty Towers episode 'The Germans' because of racist comments made by one character, the Major, when discussing the West Indies cricket team and the Germans in the Second World War. Bo' Selecta! has been removed from the Channel 4 website for its portrayal of black celebrities such as Trisha Goddard, Michael Jackson and Craig David, while BBC iPlayer, Netflix and BritBox have all removed Little Britain due to the portrayal of characters from different ethnic backgrounds. Jennifer Gannon and Joe O'Shea discussed all of this in our weekly TV slot. [audio mp3="https://media.radiocms.net/uploads/2020/06/12180906/LW-TV-Racism.mp3"][/audio]
