How To Stop Your Face Mask Giving You Acne

How To Stop Your Face Mask Giving You Acne

Acne is a common skin condition that affects most people at some stage in their lives, particularly during adolescence. Some people have been experiencing flare-ups during the pandemic as a result of wearing face masks. The humid and sticky environment the mask creates around your face lends itself to breakouts around the nose, cheeks, mouth and chin. Dr Doireann O'Leary, health blogger and GP with MyCorkGP, joined us for our weekly medical slot to talk about what acne is and how it can be treated. How Home Carers Became The Forgotten Heroes Of The Lockdown

How Home Carers Became The Forgotten Heroes Of The Lockdown

Throughout the pandemic, our frontline workers have been putting themselves at risk to help keep others safe and have rightly been regarded as heroes. Home carers, who spend each day taking care of their loved ones, have become the unsung heroes of the lockdown. Their work is often invisible to those outside of their own families. Sharon Myers is a carer for her nine-year-old son Noah and founder of the #MakeCarersVisible campaign, which provides carers with a chance to share their stories and their hopes for the future. She joined us on The Last Word along with Lee Tynan, carer for her husband Garth, and Trish O'Neill, who cares for her seven-year-old son Conor, to talk about their experiences. Could Pubs Reopen On A County By County Basis?

Could Pubs Reopen On A County By County Basis?

The Government has confirmed that the reopening of pubs will be deferred for at least another three weeks. This decision has angered many rural pub owners in particular, who feel that it could devastate the industry and result in permanent closures. Could the Government have treated rural pubs differently, adopting a county by county approach? We spoke to Professor Eoghan De Barra, infectious disease expert and senior lecturer in the Department of International Health and Tropical Medicine at RCSI, and Peadar Toibín, Meath West TD and Aontú leader, about this.
