Juve 4-3 Inter, Barca hit six and the Champions League returns

Juve 4-3 Inter, Barca hit six and the Champions League returns

The Euro crew are back as Jimbo, Pol Ballús, James Horncastle, Julien Laurens and Seb Stafford-Bloor (in person!) assemble for a bumper look ahead to Matchday 1 in the Champions League.  Barcelona proved it’s a case of no Yamal, no stadium, no problem - routing Valencia 6-0 in front of less than 6,000 fans at the Johan Cruyff Stadium. But it’s Real who continue to set the early pace - reduced to 10-men but still able to get the better of Sociedad to maintain their perfect start to the season.  The game of the weekend came in Serie A, where the Derby d'Italia certainly didn’t disappoint as the Thuram brothers took centre stage in a 4-3 thriller in Turin. Plus - Antonio Conte 2.0 shows he’s not as inflexible as everyone thinks - with his Napoli side coasting to a 3-1 win at Fiorentina to also make it three wins from three at the start of the campaign.  Bayern warmed up for the visit of Chelsea with an emphatic 5-0 Bundesliga victory over Hamburg on Saturday, while Leverkusen got the post-ten Hag era off to a winning start in their 3-1 beating of Frankfurt - despite being reduced to nine men!  PSG suffered injury blows aplenty in their 2-0 win over Lens which featured an emotional goodbye to one of their own - Presnel Kimpembe - after more than 20 years at the club. Plus, how equipped are Marseille to come away from the Bernabéu with a result in one of the most intriguing ties of the round? All that plus training ground cats, Charli xcx’s wedding, nights out in Monaco and a whole lot of innuendo (we can only apologise).   Produced by Lucy Oliva.  RUNNING ORDER:  • PART 1: Moments of the week or fortnight or whenever - and a UCL tease (00.45) • PART 2: La Liga review - Barca win big while Madrid stay perfect (11.40) • PART 3: Serie A review - 4-3 thriller in Turin and a new look Conte (26.10) • PART 4: More Serie A - just for Jules! The latest on Lookman (50.45) • PART 5: Bundesliga review - Bayern looking ominous (57.50) • PART 6: Ligue 1 review - A late Mbappé winner and fury towards BlueCo (71.15) Hosted on Acast. Haaland the hero in Manchester, Liverpool’s late shows + yes to Madueke

Jimbo is joined by Duncan Alexander, Jay Harris and Tom Williams in the studio after the return of the Premier League. City sweep United aside in the Manchester derby, with Erling Haaland adding to his massive goal tally this week. For the 4th time this season, it's a late winner from Liverpool as Mo Salah's penalty at Burnley keeps the champions top of the table. Arsenal's new signings impress in the 3-0 victory over Ange Postecoglou's Forest. And it's more misery for West Ham, Wolves and goalless Villa. Plus great headers, ref cams and the latest evolution in non-celebrations. Totally Extra: How special were Mourinho’s Porto?

Totally Extra: How special were Mourinho’s Porto?

Jimbo welcomes Duncan Alexander, Michael Cox and Pedro Pinto to reminisce on Jose Mourinho's trailblazing Porto side. The panel look back on a time when this young, refreshing coach from Portugal turned Porto into world beaters, winning the UEFA Cup, 2 Primeira Liga's, 2 Portuguese cups and eventually the Champions League, with a talented side more attacking than you remember. His European success, his way with words and his iconic touchline celebration at Old Trafford were most people in the UK's introduction to Mou, in what would become a long and unforgettable career. It could have all been so different too; it was 25 years ago this month that Mourinho got that first managerial role at Benfica but they let him go and the rest is history. Produced by Jesse Howard and Charlie Jones. RUNNING ORDER:  • PART 1: Pedro's Portuguese food recommendations and Duncan’s quiz question (00.40) • PART 1b: This week in football aka The Totally Almanac (06.25)  • PART 2: Just how good were Mourinho's Porto? (09.20) • PART 3: The remarkable second season (32.40) • PART 4: Leaving in style, Mourinho wins the Champions League and goes out on top (49.20) Hosted on Acast. Underwhelming England head to Serbia + dream debuts in the WSL

Underwhelming England head to Serbia + dream debuts in the WSL

Jimbo's got Matt Davies-Adams, Michael Cox and Tom Williams alongside him to run the rule over a busy weekend of international qualifiers and WSL action. England's 2-0 victory over Andorra at Villa Park was perhaps predictably drab, but it was goals galore elsewhere and records broken for the likes of Spain, Belgium and the Netherlands - not to mention emotional scenes in Buenos Aires after Lionel Messi's last match on home soil with Argentina. There's a chance to reflect on the news that broke late on Thursday that Daniel Levy is to leave Tottenham after nearly 25 years as the league’s longest-serving executive chairman. And the brand new WSL season got underway in some style with Chelsea continuing their remarkable unbeaten run, Olivia Smith scoring a banger on her Emirates debut - and Ornella Vignola bagging a hat-trick on her debut at Anfield in the Merseyside derby! We've got epic away days, BBQs, sinkholes and Italy actually looking good in a World Cup qualifier for once... Produced by Charlie Jones and Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: World Cup qualifiers round up (00.50) • PART 2: England 2-0 Andorra (18.30) • PART 3: Truro City's very, very, very long journey, the magic of non-league and the rest of the qualifying action (27.05) • PART 4: Fallout from Daniel Levy's shock Tottenham departure (40.10) • PART 5: A look back on the WSL opening weekend (44.20) Hosted on Acast. Totally Extra: the rise and fall of Colombia in the 90s

Totally Extra: the rise and fall of Colombia in the 90s

Jimbo welcomes Duncan Alexander, Felipe Cardenas and Luis Miguel Echegaray to discuss one of the great forgotten sides of the last three decades - the Colombia team of the early 90s. Led by Carlos Valderrama and sprinkled with the antics of goalkeeper Rene Higuita, Colombia captured the affections of many neutrals at Italia 90 and an iconic 5-0 win in Argentina saw them installed amongst the favourites for USA 94. Amid the backdrop of death threats from the cartels, a side featuring Asprilla and Rincon were eliminated early with Andres Escobar tragically murdered 10 days after scoring a crucial own goal. Not the only Escobar in this remarkable story. Produced by Charlie Jones and Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER:  • PART 1a: The best hamburger in Atlanta and Duncan’s quiz question (02.30) • PART 1b: Big Colombian football anniversaries (07.30)  • PART 2: The birth of toque toque (15.30) • PART 3: Colombia at Italia 90 and the 5-0 win in Argentina (26.00) • PART 4: USA 94 and the murder of Andres Escobar (40.00) Hosted on Acast.
