Jumping on a plane and hitting the south of France isn't possible this year.
Spare a thought for our poor celebs who have been hit the hardest when it comes to cutting back on their holiday plans due to Covid restrictions.
No first class trips to Dubai, no last minute flights to Mauritius or Bali, nope they're stuck here like the rest of us.
Some of our favourite Gift Grub characters dropped by The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show live from their staycations around Ireland.
From sexy seaweed baths to monk-like retreats, Ireland really does have it all.
"Tabhair dom an cable ties." This classic Gift Grub is a belter. Forget 50 Shades Of Grey, it's all about these 40 shades of green. This is easily in the top five Gift Grubs of all time! [audio mp3="https://media.radiocms.net/uploads/2020/08/05175804/GIFT-40-Shades-Of-Green.mp3"][/audio]

This morning we were treated to a classic Gift Grub from the archives. If you have a sketch from down the years that you want to hear on the radio again, email your suggestion to [email protected] This morning’s suggestion comes from Mandy in Kells who says: “Lads, can ye dig out the Keith Duffy Wedding Package sketch from a few years back – I think he was a celebrant at someone’s wedding in real life and ye took the absolute mickey out of it." Great suggestion, we love this one! [audio mp3="https://media.radiocms.net/uploads/2020/08/04172812/Gift-Keith-Duffy-Weddings.mp3"][/audio]

"Everyone is calling me Vladimir Bruton, I've been carrying these puppies for a long time." A video featuring Fine Gael TD Richard Bruton went viral earlier this week. The former minister earned a lot of admiration online for his toned physique. 🐟 🚲 🏊♂️ @RichardBrutonTD shows you his top activities in Howth and the surrounding areas for your #Staycation2020. From October, you can avail of our new scheme on your food and accommodation costs. We crossed live to the Dail gym to chat with Richard Bruton and company on Gift Grub for The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show. There was a story earlier this week speculating about what shows may or may not be coming back on RTÉ this autumn. Even if shows do come back it's unlikely that there will be live studio audiences (say goodbye to 'There's one for everyone in the audience"!) So without an audience to whoop and cheer where will RTE shows get their atmosphere from? Don't worry, Ray D'Arcy has a plan.... Actress Helen Behan has four kids, and works as a nurse. But Helen has always wanted to try her hand at acting. After a chance meeting with a famous English TV Director in a pub in Meath when he was on holidays Helen blagged her way into a role in one of his shows. She continued to work her way up the ladder and last year in 2019, Helen was on a new Channel 4 show called The Virtues starring alongside Stephen Graham to rave reviews yet again. The most incredible part of this story is that Helen was still nursing here in Ireland. Last month Helen was on with The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show because she only went and got nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the BAFTAS! View this post on Instagram @bafta Thank you so much thoroughly enjoyed this #baftatvsessions for #TheVirtues #Family #bestjobever @nickiesault #jackthorne #ShaneMeadows @waltersgraham @herbie71 #mirandasawyer What a night ❤️ A post shared by Helen Behan (@helenbehan1) on Jul 16, 2020 at 5:29pm PDT When she got the news, she was working as a nurse in the Covid Assessment Unit in Drogheda. The BAFTA’s are on tonight with all nominees standing by at home and Helen told us about what she’s wearing tonight, where she’s watching it, and who her competition is. Mairead Ronan is filling in for Ian Dempsey this week and she picked a great week for it. Mairead got to completely fangirl over one of her idols on the breakfast show when she was joined by the one and only Kylie Minogue. The Ozzie singer impressed us straight off the bat with her flawless pronunciation of 'Mairead.' Kylie also revealed how she felt about the reaction Leo's now infamous letter to the pop star received, acknowledging that she rarely gets involved with politics but that the reaction to the letter did take a little of the shine away from it.
