Postpartum mental health: Where are we failing mothers?

6 September - 11 mins
Podcast Series The Pat Kenny Show

The Lindsay Clancy case has raised very difficult questions about the intersection of motherhood, postpartum mental health, and the criminal justice system. It also raises a question closer to home: how well do we actually recognise and respond to serious mental health problems after women give birth here in Ireland? Because for all the focus on the baby and the birth itself, the postpartum period can present a range of physical and psychological challenges, some of which can be very difficult to see, and even harder to talk about. Joining Pat to do just that is Aolish Gormley, Founder of Árdu, a maternal mental health initiative based in Sligo and leading the Year of Care campaign
