Emily and Jami dive into the episode titled “She Finally Snapped,” which details the case of Frances Zaayer. Frances quickly goes from family friend to paranoid and angry neighbor who’s intent on making the lives of Shawna and David Scott miserable. Frances’s hatred and paranoia culminates in a deadly shooting that leaves one person dead and another with serious injuries. Myers was able to lure young, attractive people into his world and ultimately have them fund his entire life. Cult members were led to believe that Myers was an “alien walk-in” from the star system Arcturus, and that Earth would undergo an apocalypse in the somewhat near future. Jami and Kendrick address the various forms of abuse inflicted on cult members and the more shocking aspects of the story, like the unexpected illness that ultimately claimed the life of Fred Myers and what transpired after the Eternal Values members lost their leader. Imagine you’re lying in bed recuperating after a series of extensive cosmetic surgeries. Every inch of your face hurts from a full facelift, your breathing is strained, and you drift in and out of consciousness. As if you weren’t already vulnerable enough, recovery from eyelid surgery involves having your eyes taped shut for about 10 days. In April 2007 that was the exact situation 51-year-old Michele MacNeill found herself in. The Utah mother of eight was prescribed an array of sedating prescription pills to treat her pain and swelling. Back home after an overnight hospital stay, Michele felt a little better in her own bed. Her loved ones assumed she’d be back to feeling like her cheerful self in no time. In July 2022, 17-year-old Mackenzie Shirilla drove her car into a brick building at nearly 100 miles per hour with her boyfriend Dominic Russo and his friend Davion Flanagan inside. Both of Mackenzie’s passengers were killed on impact, but she survived. In 2026 Netflix released “The Crash,” a documentary detailing the case. An investigation cast suspicion over what really happened in the early morning hours when the fatal crash occurred. Was it a tragic accident, or did Mackenzie Shirilla intentionally torpedo her car into a building? Were there unknown variables like her car brakes malfunctioning or a medical emergency?
