In October 2025, nearly six years after he vanished into a summer storm, Chance Englebert’s remains were found at the base of a rugged cliff within Scotts Bluff National Monument in Nebraska. The 25-year-old husband and father was last seen alive on July 6th, 2019, after storming off on foot following a heated argument with his wife’s family. He’d picked the wrong night to leave on foot as a brutal summer storm rolled in not long after. Police claim Chance’s death was a tragic accident. His family, however, believe otherwise. In Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the Westdale Mall had its grand opening just in time for the 1979 Christmas season. It instantly became a popular hangout. Many high school kids got their first job at the mall, including 18-year-old Michelle Martinko. Tragically, Michelle was fatally stabbed in the Westdale Mall parking lot on December 19th, 1979. The violent incident dissolved all sense of safety at the mall, making it feel like the most dangerous place in Cedar Rapids. Her killer would remain elusive for nearly 40 years.
