Study Shows One In Four Primary School Children Can't Run Properly

27 January 2020 - 11 mins
Podcast Series The Last Word with Matt Cooper

One in four primary school children can't run properly and lack basic movement skills, according to a new study conducted by DCU.

The research also finds that one in two children can't kick a ball properly, while fewer than one in five can throw a ball properly.

We were joined by Dr Stephen Behan from the DCU School of Health and Human Performance and Jen Hogan, Irish Times parenting columnist and mother of seven, to discuss why this might be the case.
