An Old TV Set Caused A Village Broadband Outage For 18 Months

25 September 2020 - 20 mins
Podcast Series The Last Word with Matt Cooper

An old TV set was found to be responsible for 18 months of daily broadband outages in a Welsh village.

The residents of Aberhosan mysteriously lost their broadband every morning at 7am.

When engineers investigated, they discovered that electrical interference from one householder's second-hand TV was to blame.

The unnamed resident, who was said to be "mortified", agreed not to use the TV again.

Pat Fitzpatrick and Laura Byrne joined us for The Week Trending to look at this and some of the other stories making the news this week.
