Why The US And Russian Astronauts Have Moved In Together On The International Space Station

Why The US And Russian Astronauts Have Moved In Together On The International Space Station

It's the reality TV show we all need, what happens when astronauts living millions of miles away from Earth need somewhere to crash and have to move in with the gang across the hall? There's no cameras but that is what is happening on the International Space Station at the moment where the US astronauts have had to bunk in with their Russian counterparts. It's all because of a small air leak, and clearly they don't have an inanimate carbon rod to hand to fix it. Space journalist Leo Enright explained to Dermot and Dave what's going on, and how they might look to fix it. Nutritionist Calls High Sugar Content In Subway Bread 'Surprising'

Nutritionist Calls High Sugar Content In Subway Bread 'Surprising'

It's rare that sandwiches end up being discussed in the courtroom, unless it's about lunch, but this week The Supreme Court made a very interesting decision in relation to the bread used in the famous Subway sandwiches. And it all comes down to VAT. Galway-based Bookfinders Ltd, a Subway franchisee, argued that it was not liable for VAT on some of its products including their famous sandwiches. The argument stemmed from a definition of bread as a stable food which ensures its zero-VAT status. However, the court has ruled that because the bread used in the sandwiches has a sugar content of over 10% of the weight of the flour included in the dough, this would not be the case. Speaking to Dermot and Dave, nutritionist Elsa Jones said she was 'surprised' to hear that the bread had such a high sugar content and revealed some other food that might be considered to have 'secret' sugar. Irish Designer Features In Pharrell & Jay-Z Video: 'Keep Working Hard, You Never Know When It Will Pay Off'

Irish Designer Features In Pharrell & Jay-Z Video: 'Keep Working Hard, You Never Know When It Will Pay Off'

When Florence Ojo got an email from someone asking her to appear in the new video from Pharrell Williams and Jay-Z, she did the typically Irish thing and declared it a scam. With two days notice, she told the 'scammers' that she wasn't available to appear in the music video as she works full-time. Soon, however, she came to realise that the email wasn't a scam at all, and the multi-award winning superstar producer did want to use her for his new video, Entrepreneur. The team jetted to Ireland, where they met Florence at her home in Tallaght. The video, which focuses on black-owned businesses, featured people from all around the world from HBO star Issa Rae to our own Florence Ojo. Speaking to Dermot and Dave, Florence revealed how her work at M.I.O Prints was spotted by Pharrell's people, and her that the video will bring her prints to an international audience. Irish Mother Takes Two Days Maternity Leave Due To Covid-19

Irish Mother Takes Two Days Maternity Leave Due To Covid-19

For most mothers, at a more 'normal' time, maternity leave should be a time for rest, recuperation and bonding. But when you're a small business owner, and a new mum, things are often far more complicated than that. Two weeks ago, Catriona Lysaght gave birth to her fourth daughter, Georgie and was back in work within 48 hours. Speaking to Dermot and Dave, Catriona explained that her job as a speech therapist at The Speech Centre has become a lot more challenging during the pandemic and her plans to 'throw money' at the issue of maternity leave, were scuppered. Aware that she has numerous people who are relying on her, Catriona made the decision to take just two days off and is back in work, feeding her daughter during Zoom calls. Catriona told Dermot and Dave that while it was a tough decision, she is relishing Georgie's night feeds and looks forward to taking a holiday in a few weeks time.
