How You Can Name One Of Ireland's Most Rare Birds
4 August 2020 - 8 minsIt's a once in a generation bird and you could be the person who gets to name them.
The first female white-tailed eagle to fledge in Ireland in 100 years was born in Co Cork's Glengarriff Woods Nature Reserve 11 weeks ago. Her mother is one of 100 birds who were brought from Norway over the past number of years as part of a reintroduction project for the rare bird.
She already weighs 6.8kgs and is in good health, despite the fact that one of her parents hasn't been seen at the nest in some weeks.
While you currently can follow her progress on the live Glengarriff EagleCam, soon she'll be flying the nest and before she goes, you have the chance to name her.
