'It's Not A Label, It's A Lens': Living With Adult ADHD

'It's Not A Label, It's A Lens': Living With Adult ADHD

ADHD is a diagnosis that we usually associate with children, and is usually characterised by the 'hyper' one, the disruptive one in the class. However, in recent times, more understanding and research has seen an increasing amount of adults being diagnosed in later life. [audio mp3="https://media.radiocms.net/uploads/2021/10/21112859/ADHD_MaireadKen_2110.mp3"][/audio] Máiread Deevy is one of those people. At the age of 28, having spent most of her adult life being misdiagnosed with anxiety, Máiread felt a sense of relief to learn that she was neurologically diverse and living with ADHD. Speaking to Dermot and Dave, Máiread explained how ADHD had impacted on her life before she was diagnosed, why the words 'deficit' and 'disorder' do very little for understanding the way her brain works and how she is working with others to improve their lives. Ken Kilbride from ADHD Ireland explained to Dermot and Dave what the typical signs of ADHD are, how a diagnosis can be reached and what supports are available. You can catch the chat by clicking play above and for more information, visit ADHD Ireland's website and Máiread's email can be found here.

'The Nation Needs Music': Picture This Respond To New Government Guidelines

'The Nation Needs Music': Picture This Respond To New Government Guidelines

It's been a long 19 months for the entertainment sector, and for bands like Picture This. [audio mp3="https://media.radiocms.net/uploads/2021/10/20120731/PictureThis_2010.mp3"][/audio] While it had been long hoped that the latest Government guidance would provide clarity for live music, this hasn't been the case. Speaking to Dermot and Dave, Picture This expressed their frustration that a country that prides itself on its music has been left with 'strategies that don't make any sense' by people who have 'turned their backs' on the entire music scene. The Kildare band called the situation 'laughable' and called on those involved to support the sector when it needs it most. Despite the lack of clarity, Ryan, Jimmy and the lads are playing an incredibly exciting, very intimate gig with Guinness. Picture This will join Gemma Dunleavy to perform for fans in a Dublin pub over the coming weeks as part of the #herestoitall campaign.   We're putting on a gig with @picturethis to celebrate your moments from the last 18 months. Tweet your moment with #HeresToItAll to win tickets. 18+ only. No purchase necessary ROI & NI. Open 12:00 GMT 18/10 - 09:00 GMT 26/10 2021.
